Actor’s Intensive: Advanced Craft & Cultural Dramaturgy For Pacific Actors | Tāmaki Makaurau | 6th June

$120.00

In-Person // Strictly Limited to 8 ActorsThis intensive is a technical laboratory for Pacific actors who want to deepen their craft using the stories of our own people. We move away from the "head-heavy" Western approach to scripts and instead find the physical and cultural architecture of the work.Working specifically with texts from Pacific playwrights, we will bridge the gap between high-level performance technique and the sovereign logic of our stories.

The Lab Focus:

Cultural Dramaturgy: A deep-dive into script analysis. You will learn to break down a text by identifying the cultural hierarchies, the relational vā, and the specific temporal rules within the writing.

Floor-to-Text Integration: We move the script onto the floor. You will learn how to ground the language of Pacific playwrights in your body, using weight and presence to inhabit the story without flattening it.

Technical Sovereignty: Advanced acting skills focused on voice, body, and agency. Learn how to maintain your technical rigor while staying culturally safe in institutional spaces.

The Director’s Note: With a small cohort of 8, each actor receives bespoke, rigorous feedback on their technical execution and dramaturgical choices.

Format & Details:Intimate & Rigorous: Only 8 positions available to ensure every actor gets dedicated time on the floor.

Resource Focus: We will be working with curated Pacific playtexts provided in the session.

Professional Standard: This is a space for actors who want to treat Pacific theatre with the same technical precision and intellectual depth required by any world-class institution.

All materials + refreshments will be provided.

Investment: $120

Location: Tāmaki Makaurau
