In-Person // Strictly Limited to 8 Positions
This intensive is for the actor who is no longer content with just "filling a role." It is for the maker who is currently devising, writing, or performing their own work and needs the technical rigor to bring that vision into physical reality.
Building directly on the Studio Kiin Foundations, this lab moves the concepts of Cultural Literacy and Temporal Sovereignty onto the floor. We focus on what’s required to be both the architect and the instrument of your own work.
In this intensive, we work with:
Physical Dramaturgy: Moving beyond the "brain" to devise work from the floor. You will learn how to use weight, grounding, and spatial memory to generate narrative material.
The Architecture of the Solo Instrument: For those making solo or small-ensemble work, we map the "Temporal Rules" of your performance—ensuring the work breathes and holds its center under pressure.
Authoring through Action: How to use high-level acting techniques to "write" in space, creating work that is structurally robust and culturally resonant.
Navigating the Institution: Practical strategies for maintaining your creative agency when pitching, rehearsing, or touring your own devised material.
Format & Details:
Bespoke Laboratory: With a limit of 8 participants, the session is tailored to the specific projects currently in development within the room.
Floor-First: This is a rigorous physical session. Participants should bring a "seed" of an idea or a work-in-progress to test on the floor.
All materials + refreshments will be provided.
Investment: $150
